The project funded by Department of Agriculture and farmers empowerment, Odisha builds on the foundation of memorandum of agreement signed between Govt of Odisha and International Rice Research Institute to increase the productivity ofrice-based cropping system and enhance farmers income in Odisha. The project was implemented in Cuttack and Kalahandi districts of Odisha to induce system level changes by addressing major gaps that can influence economic decisions with aim to enhance and stabilize system productivity and increase farmers income particularly in stress prone areas and establish sustainable rice-based farming systems in the state.
Outcome
435 farmers increased their income upto 30% by adopting improved rice based cropping system and pulses cultivation in rice fallow areas/ pockets.
